East Africa is an ultimate bucket list destination. The moment you step off the plane at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), everything smells... different. And wonderful. Breathe in the earth's rich soil as it fills your nose. This is paradise for adventure-seekers, no doubt. If you're in search of either mountaineering or wild African animal-spotting, save yourself the heartache by partaking in both. Start your adventure ascending to the Roof of Africa. End your vacation in a Hemingway-like fashion, drinking wine around a campfire in the heart of the Serengeti plains. East Africa will leave a lasting impression on your soul and you will never be the same (not an exaggeration, promise). I've outlined the highlights of my two weeks in Tanzania and would recommend this adventure to absolutely anyone. You are never too old to enjoy a big hike. You are never too old to stick your head out the window of a Land Cruiser.
